Tarzan Buys a Sisal Rug

Jane looked around her and Tarzan’s treetop house and became agitated. The walls were bare and the floor had no rugs. Jungle life was, simply put, becoming drab. She had an idea and as Tarzan swung into the bedroom, she said, “Tarzan, darling; we need some rugs and tapestries. I know just the place to find them and I would like you to go and buy some.”

Tarzan swung out of the jungle and into the city to the store called, “Sisal Rugs and Tapestries”, as instructed by Jane. He walked inside, and not really knowing exactly what he wanted, said to the clerk, “Rug sisal weave.”

“Ah, yes. Right this way, sir,” said the clerk as he showed him to the woven sisal rugs. Tarzan looked at the woven rug and asked, “What this made of?”

“Well, sir, a sisal rug is made from fibers of the sisal plant, sometimes called ‘sisal hemp’. The fibers are very durable, though can become quite frayed if you put the rug in a high traffic area. Sisal rugs are very easy to take care of, requiring only a good vacuuming every now and then.” “Tarzan no have vacuum…live in jungle.” Tarzan replied.

“Well, you are in luck then, sir! These sisal rugs absorb moisture from the air and if you have enough of them, may cut down on the humidity in your house.”

Tarzan looked at the woven sisal rug and realized it was too skinny for his purposes, as well as having ragged edges. “Tarzan need border rug sisal wide.” “Excellent choice, sir! Right this way.” The clerk showed him where the wide bordered sisal rugs were. Tarzan looked at them and saw the one he wanted.

“Black rug sisal for living room, go good with drapes. Jane say Tarzan need tapestry,” Tarzan remembered. The clerk had just the thing in mind to go with Tarzan’s black bordered sisal rug. “I have just the thing. Look here at these fine silk tapestries; such rich colors would go wonderfully with your new sisal rug.” He mused. “Tarzan want border rug sisal tapestry,” he said as he pointed at a 4x6 sisal rug tapestry. The clerk fetched a dark sisal tapestry from the rack and began to roll it up.

“Tarzan want beige rug sisal too, for bathroom.” Tarzan blurted. The clerk remembered there was actually a discount on some beige sisal rugs, and showed Tarzan where they were. Tarzan became exited when he saw the discount, “discount rug sisal!” he shouted, and noticed a few other items on sale. “Custom rug sisal, rug sisal wool, round rug sisal? Tarzan take all discount rugs sisals!”

He rolled up the sisal rugs, paid for them, tied the rugs to himself and swung back into the jungle to his waiting Jane. He unrolled each sisal rug to show to Jane and she loved them. The treetop house was now a home and jungle life a little less drab for Jane.
